Although this was a few years ago, it remains one of my all-time favorite weddings. It was published everywhere, so I guess I'm not the only one who loved it. They wanted a country feel yet with elegant notes... fun, whimsical yet stunningly beautiful. The bride is a clothing designer, and the groom is a writer, so we incorporated several fun elements that paid homage to their professions. The major ones are a typewriter with "flowery" prose and a sewing machine sewing a carpet of flowers. We even had old-fashioned thread spools as place card holders and a type tray with their names in it. I used numerous props, even supplying all the dishes with several mismatched pieces, which created an old-time family potluck vibe. The bride was from the south, so we had a hot tea station where people could take a cup and saucer, along with a teapot, back to their table. Her mom even picked loads of cotton for us to weave throughout, even in the bouquets and boutonnieres. The ceremony was held outdoors in the woods across from the barn where the reception was. We wanted to create a church feeling within the cathedral of the trees. We used actual church pews and put flowers in the bible holders. I took a couple of barn doors for the main "church entrance" and hung curtains to create the "room". It's hard to be specific about what exactly I loved about it, beyond the wonderful couple and their family (a major highlight!). It was everything, really, so many wonderful details, and absolutely everyone there was lovely. The party went on for a long time, and I believe they had an absolute blast! I will let the images by Carolyn Tran speak for themselves, she is one of the only photographers who could truly capture everything so beautifully!
